How often do we think of ourselves as miracles?
Until the last year or so, I never gave it a moments thought. Miracles were things that occasionally happened to other people, certainly not to me. The thought never occurred that I AM a walking miracle and so are YOU. We Are miracles. Each one of us has a living, breathing, sensing miracle body that operates all by itself. We don’t have to tell it what to do, it already knows.
Most of my life, I took my body for granted. I fed it toxic substances and nutrient depleted food. I starved it and thought stressful thoughts, all the while, expecting it to serve me well. Never did I honour it for the miracle it is until one day when a glimmer of awareness suspended my thought.
Awareness scolded, “How dare you treat yourself so badly!”
It had my attention.
“How dare you think you don’t want to live. How could you do this to such a beautiful creation?”
Red-faced and speechless, I broke down and cried.
From that day forward, I was not the same. I craved healthy vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes, and whole-grains and the thought I didn’t want to live never again occurred to me. On that day, suddenly, I knew that I was a beautiful creation, a true miracle of Life Itself. And so are you.
Each one of us is a magnificent miracle created by the One true Intelligence. An intelligence that goes way beyond the human mind. How could I possibly continue to live my life ignoring this plain simple truth.
A couple of months ago, Grant Rawcliffe at Third Conversation asked me if I saw the YouTube video titled, “The Miracle Is You.” I had not and so I googled it. The video pretty much sums up my experience that day. I posted it below.
Exercise to feel inner body aliveness.
- Get into a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down and close your eyes if you want.
- Bring your attention into your body feeling the inflow and outflow of your breath.
- Feel the surface of the skin on your thighs, knees, calves, ankles, feet and toes.
- Do the same with your shoulders, arms and hands.
- Notice any sensations and bring your attention into the sensation.
- Go deeper into your body to feel your soft tissue and bones.
- Just relax and feel the sensations for as long as you want.
- If you find yourself thinking a stream of thoughts, gently guide your attention back into your body and repeat as many times as necessary.
- Stop when you want to stop.
- Try to do the exercise every day.
Practice the exercise for at least thirty days and notice what changes in your life. Send an email to let me know what you discover. And a sincere thank you to all the magnificent miracles who read this blog, I really appreciate all your support.

I need someone to remind me of this more often…like several times a day! You up for it? lol
Nevermind I know this needs to be something that is bone deep. Thanks for the exercise.
Thanks for reading and commenting, Elle. It Is something that is easy to forget, I find the exercise helps me remember. Often, when doing the exercise I repeat over and over, “You are a miracle.” Watching the video also helps. Have a great day!
How true this is. Thanks Marianne for the reminder. I think I will write it on a sticky note and put it on my mirror.
I’m so glad you called tonight.
Thanks Melinda. Sticky note is a great idea. I think I’ll do the same. I’m so glad I called also. Hope you have a wonderful day!
