How I met a Tamil Siddha

Greetings Miracle Enthusiasts!

First, I’d like to welcome new subscribers. I feel honored that you took time to sign up to receive notice of new blog posts. Be assured that your email is safe with me and only used for its intended purpose.

How is everyone doing? Are you doing well? Any miracles happening? Synchronistic events? Aha moments?

Or, maybe you are having challenges, disappointments, or frustrations?

Either way, it seems change is a part of the human condition and my prayer is that you receive inspiration and blessings to reach new heights of existence.

Let’s inspire one another (heaven knows I need it too)!

As I promised in my last post, this is a story about my personal experience with meeting a Tamil Siddha from India.

The story begins many, many years ago as a big fan of Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Being interested in self-improvement, I read most of Dr. Dyer’s books from his beginnings as author (Your Erroneous Zones, The Sky’s the Limit, You’ll See it When You Believe It, etc. etc.).

One day, I attended a talk given by Dr. Dyer. He recounted the miraculous events witnessed while visiting Sathya Sai Baba, during a trip to India.

Then he told of receiving teachings from a Tamil Siddha who traveled to the West from southern India.

“The Tamil Siddhas are native to the southern state of Tamil Nadu. They have been associated with psychokinetic powers and other paranormal phenomena including levitation, flying through the air, clairvoyance, kowledge of the future, the ability to make themselves invisible, and immortality.

The revered Indian mystic Tirumular has defined the Siddhas as those “who have experienced Divine light and Divine power from within and through Yogic Samadhi.” (pg. 3 The One Minute Guide to Prosperity and Enlightenment, 2002,  Sri Siva (also known as Dattatreya Siva Baba)

Dattatreya Siva Baba is a spiritual name given to Dr. Baskaran Pillai.

In past years, he has also been called Sri Siva, Guruji, Sri Guruji and Brzee. He  taught Dr. Wayne Dyer the “AH” meditation (Meditations for Manifesting).

Intrigued, I set an intention to learn more about the guru who inspired Wayne Dyer. I learned that Dattatreya Siva Baba presented workshops not too far from where I lived.

The workshops were inspiring and practical. I used the mantras as suggested by Siva Baba every night. One night, while enthusiastically practicing one of the mantras, I felt as if my body lifted off the couch.

No, kidding! (Sounds crazy, right.)

It scared me so much that I quickly opened my eyes. Then I sent an email about the experience to Siva Baba’s email address.

I received a reply from his assistant explaining that because of the volume of mail, Siva Baba couldn’t personally respond, however, they reassured me that my experience was normal and I should continue using the mantras and not worry (easier said than done by a person who is a chronic worrier).

So, I did what any fearful person would do. I stopped using the mantras!

Then, I learned there was a group of followers who met weekly to practice the mantras and provide a supportive environment where long-time students helped the newer ones.

I drove my car two hours (one way) each week to seek enlightenment.

To my excitement, it was announced that Dattatreya Siva Baba would be available for personal sessions the following weekend.

I vowed I would not miss an opportunity for a personal meeting with Siva Baba! I signed up on the spot!

The day finally came. I remember it well.

It was a comfortably warm summer day for a two hour drive. There were few clouds in the sky as the sun moved into its late afternoon position.

I parked the car in front of the house, walked up the front walk and rang the door bell. Greeted by familiar faces, I entered the living room and sat with quiet patience to wait for my turn with Baba.

Siva Baba was receiving the guests one at a time in a beautiful family room that led out to a patio off the kitchen.

It was my turn!

Baba’s assistant gave me some instructions. I tip-toed into the room unsure if I should make eye contact.

Siva Baba motioned me to sit in a chair that was approximately three feet in front of where he sat.

There we were. Just me and him!

Baba instructed me to close my eyes and then lead me through a beautiful guided meditation. After the meditation, he asked how he could help me.

I explained that I wanted physical healing.

He told me that my biggest obstacle was doubt and fear. He said, I needed to have faith and not doubt.

Then he told me that he could see I had grace and that I would be healed and help others to heal. Most importantly, I was not to doubt this.

I felt so uplifted! My excitement must have shone through because he gave me a big smile and sent me on my way with blessings.

As I left the room, I felt like I was walking on clouds. I could barely feel my feet in my shoes as I put them on before I left the house.

Once in the car, I headed for the highway. I felt so light and airy that the two hour drive seemed like minutes passed and I was home. In fact, the next day, I sent an email to a long-time student describing the drive home as a feeling that I was flying.

Talk about inspiration, Wow! It was incredible!

The vibrant feeling continued into the evening and next day. I remember going to work feeling so inspired, clear headed and light.

This was not the norm for me. My job felt like drudgery.

The other thing I noticed was that I had no negative thoughts. All my thoughts were positive and uplifted. Even the RA symptoms improved dramatically and so much so that a co-worker commented about it.

As the week wore on, so too the vibrancy wore off.

Slowly, I noticed negative thoughts creeping in little by little each day. I felt heavier and heavier as the week progressed.

The “walking on clouds” feeling was slipping through my toes. I didn’t know what to do about it.

By the end of the week, the eagle landed with a thud.

Within a short period of time, I left Siva Baba’s teaching for some other “shiny new object” healing modality.

I now know this as a form of resistance of the egoic mind.

As the saying goes, we live, we learn.

Thanks so much for reading!

I’ll be back with an update on Goal Achievement with Lester Levenson.

Here’s Dr. Pillai talking about manifesting with mantras, specifically the love mantra, Kleem.
